Spam – an Environmental Rascal?

62 quintillion (62,000,000,000,000,000,000) junk emails were sent during 2008. This consumed the same amount of energy as 2.4 million households in one year. Or the same amount as 3.1 million cars crossing the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco in one month.

McAfee did their homework…

But, of course, they do sell spam filters, don’t they?

Recent statistics and estimates from Wikipedia:
2010 – (January) 183 billion junk emails per day.
